Often asymmetric or tired-appearing eyes may be the result of ptosis (“toe-sis”). Ptosis is a common condition where the upper eyelid position is lower than normal, thereby resulting in an unintentional sleepy or tired appearance. If one eyelid is affected the eyes can appear asymmetric, and is the origin of the unfortunate term “lazy eye”.
Dr. Miller performs ptosis surgery in his accredited surgery center typically under light sedation on an outpatient basis. The results are natural and the procedure is interestingly performed underneath the eyelid so there is no visible scar. The images depict a person who had only ptosis surgery by Dr. Miller. Notice the eyes look natural, and much more symmetric.
