A single, young lady in her late thirties consulted for liposuction to improve the contours of her neck. Indeed, several physicians had previously offered her this very treatment. Unfortunately, this was not the correct procedure for her. In short, liposuction of her neck would not have provided the results you see here. Most of the fullness in her neck was fat, but it was located below the platysma (pla-tis-ma) muscle, which would make removal by liposuction very dangerous and incomplete. This may seem confusing and counter-intuitive to many readers but I believe it’s important to be a well-informed patient. Besides the excess fatty tissue, the “muscle layer” in her lower face and neck was lax and needed tightening; something not corrected by liposuction, lasers or other non-surgical procedures.
The procedures performed were a neck lift combined with a deep-plane lower face lift (mini-lift). The results look natural and the procedure gave her a new found social confidence. She is now married with two children. You can read her testimonial here.
